In this section of Chemistry we were learning about physical and chemical reactions and changes. We were assigned to create a comic strip that would explain different physical and chemical reactions through a story.
WHY I CHOSE TO INCLUDE THIS PROJECT IN MY PORTFOLIO
I chose to include this project in my portfolio because I am proud of my art skills in my comic strip. It was also very time consuming to make and a lot of effort went into this project.
THE 21ST CENTURY SKILL REPRESENTED IN THIS ASSIGNMENT
When completing this assignment I had to be very disciplined to complete my art at a slow pace at home, because of this I believe I utilized Self Directional Skills the most in this project.
AREAS OF IMPROVEMENT
If I had the opportunity to redo this project I would definitely rewrite the ending of my story. I made my tea pot explode and explained that it was both a physical and chemical change. This was an error though because I did not explain what was in the pot to make it explode. I think I would redo this section by establishing which explosive liquid was in the tea pot or I could have involved an acid leak that would damage the kettle. I also think I could have included a section about the kettle whistling which is a physical change.
STRUGGLES AND SATISFACTIONARY POINTS
I struggled with coming up with a topic to write my comic on and drawing each strip was difficult for me. Though I had challenges I am proud of my art skills and creativity in the final product.
HOW THIS RELATES TO PAST CONTENT
Before beginning this unit in Chemistry, we reviewed the different forms of matter. Using this past information I was able to identify how the stages of matter connect to physical changes.
TAKEAWAYS
Now that I have finished this assignment, I distinctly know the difference between physical and chemical changes.
