For this assignment, we were given a few resources and a 10 paged document in which we needed to research the properties of elements and compounds. This lab was designed to help improve our research skills and resource application. I think this assignment best demonstrated information skills because I had thoroughly researched each question to figure out how to solve the questions. I also needed to reread many questions so that I would understand what the question was asking. I have noticed that questions on labs don't make much sense to me initially. I am most proud of this assignment because I was actually able to use my time very wisely throughout my research. I had spread out the workload in a really manageable way and was able to ask my Professor questions about the material I wasn't comprehending. By doing a few hours of this lab each day throughout the week, I was fresh for each new concept. I truly believe this is why I got such good results on this report. Since I have begun taking this class, my productivity and 21st-century skill application have significantly increased. I think that by continuing to work hard and have a strict schedule, I will be able to continue to grow in my informational skills. I also think that using the library will help me expand my informational skills. The most difficult aspect of this lab was trying to understand the formulas I needed to use for question number 6. This question asked to determine whether it would be feasible for terrorists to poison a water supply based on the set variables the problem provided me. I thought this was really hard because I had no clue how to calculate it. I actually got a 100% on this lab but in other labs, my professor has asked me to better show my work, so overall I have been focusing on this to help improve my lab reports. This relates to what I learned in chemistry last year because we had to write compounds and apply periodic rules to even understand the questions being asked.
