For this assignment, we were assigned two linear/inequality equations to help us determine the optimal solutions for each problem. These problems addressed real life business situations and we needed to complete them in groups of three.
WHY I CHOSE TO INCLUDE THIS IN MY PORTFOLIO
I chose to include this in my portfolio because it included many aspects of the algebra sections we had learned up to that point. We needed to read word problems; identify their equations; and graph them based on the information provided. These skills had been the main focus of quarter one Algebra 2.
THE 21ST CENTURY SKILL REPRESENTED IN THIS ASSIGNMENT
This assignment required our group to use Financial Literacy skills because we needed to identify how different businesses could maximize profits and minimize costs through graphing and evaluating.
HOW THIS ASSIGNMENT DEMONSTRATES MY GROWTH
Before beginning Algebra 2, I struggled with the concept of graphing inequalities but now they have become a second nature to me. This project supports this because our group needed to work with inequality statements.
AREAS OF IMPROVEMENT WITHIN THIS ASSIGNMENT
In the future, I would like to check my answers before I move onto a new problem because I find that I become less motivated to check my work after I have completed the required problems.
STRUGGLES AND SATISFACTORY POINTS
When interpreting the word problems it was difficult to confirm that our equations were accurate. I am proud that our group was able to work effectively when solving these problems.
HOW THIS RELATES TO PAST CONTENT
Throughout this semester of Algebra 2, we have been learning how to interpret word problems, inequalities, graphs, and three way equations. All of these elements were tested in this assignment.
APPLICATION TO FUTURE LEARNING
In the future if I ever need to calculate profit or budgeting, I will be able to reflect on the skills in this assignment.
