For this lab, we conducted a procedure to see how much of a substance of unknown concentration needed to be added to a substance of known concentration before a reaction occurs. We were able to determine how much of the substance was consumed and thereby find its concentration. In this lab we combined an acid and base to reach a neutralization. When the reaction reached its equivalence point (equal mols of acid and base) the indicator involved in our experiment changed colors to pink. I think this assignment best demonstrated thinking and problem solving skills because I had to have a good understanding of the topic. I gained this understanding by doing lots of practice problems and reading the lab manual several times. I am most proud of this lab because I usually find labs very hard but since I had completely prepared for this one I did well on both the lab quiz and procedure. Since I have begun taking this class, my productivity and 21st-century skill application have significantly increased. I think that by continuing to work hard and have a strict schedule, I will expand my way of thinking and broaden my understanding on chemistry. The most difficult aspect of this lab was trying to achieve the perfect color of titration. It is expected for the color to be a very pale pink which was very hard to achieve. This lab report hasn't been graded yet but I have been working to finish portions of my lab reports throughout the week to avoid being overwhelmed. I have also started going to all of my professor's office hours and he helps me to understand the labs. This labs relates to what I learned in General Chemistry Lab 1 last year because we had to complete many different lab reports. This lab was also connected to the material we have been learning in our lecture.
